Robert Snodgrass scored his first and second goals of the season as Leeds held off a strong challenge from Watford to progress to the third round of the League Cup following extra-time.
Snodgrass opened the scoring when he latched onto a through ball and held off several challenges before slotting past Richard Lee in the Watford goal.
That goal appeared to have won the tight contest but Watford refused to lie and gained a deserved equaliser with just four minutes of normal time left when youngster Marvin Sordell scored at the second attempt of asking, when his low driven shot evaded the badly positioned Higgs in the Leeds goal.
Leeds won it though in the first half of extra-time when Showumni’s flick-on was gleefully accepted by Snodgrass who toe-poked the ball past the on-rushing Lee and into the Watford net to send Leeds through to the next round with Saturday being the day of the draw.
Man Of The match – Snodgrass. Scored two well taken goals and is strating to show sparkles of the form he was in last season.
